AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM ASSESSMENT

Nerve-Express Autonomic Nervous System Assessment

Atlantis Brain & Chiropractic Center is proud to offer autonomic nervous system testing with the Nerve-Express system. The Nerve-Express system is a fully automatic, non-invasive, computer-based system designed for the quantitative assessment of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) analysis.
The Nerve-Express system objectively and reliably evaluates the state of the ANS during orthostatic testing (lying down to standing up), respiratory testing (normal breathing vs. deep breathing), and can also measure ANS function in real time. Due to its highly sophisticated HRV analysis, the Nerve-Express system is the only system that enables quantification of 81 ANS states with a corresponding qualitative description for each one.

At this point in time, almost everyone has heard about vagal nerve stimulation techniques to stimulate the rest and digest (healing) systems and to decrease the symapthetic (fight or flight) systems. In the graphical representation of the ANS condition below, this particular patient shows that deep breathing (a common form of parasympathetic activation) actually DECREASES their parasympathetic response and INCREASES their symapthetic response - not exactly what we want!
As a side note, this particular patient also demonstrated an abnormal increase in their heart rate when going from lying down to standing up. This is known as POTS or Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and often causes lightheadedness, dizziness, fatigue, brain fog, palpitations, nausea, exercise intolerance, and fainting.

Growing up in Satellite Beach, Dr. David Sanders decided to be a chiropractor at 17 years old. Read more about his story and get to know him a little better.
"His ability to innately know what is wrong is a gift from God. I would highly recommend that anyone that needs neurology or chiropractic care see him! I am highly blessed and honored to be Dr. Sanders' patient."
